Our History & Mission
The story behind VaultSight Surveillance Labs and our vision for the future of surveillance data management.
The Genesis of VaultSight
VaultSight Surveillance Labs was founded in 2019 by a team of data storage engineers and security professionals who identified a critical gap in the surveillance industry: while camera technology was rapidly advancing, storage infrastructure remained generic and ill-suited for the unique demands of video surveillance data.
The explosion in camera resolution, increased frame rates, and longer retention requirements were creating unprecedented storage challenges for security operations. Meanwhile, the growing importance of video evidence in legal proceedings demanded more robust chain-of-custody documentation than general-purpose storage systems could provide.
Our founders recognized that security companies needed a specialized solution built from the ground up to address the specific technical and compliance requirements of surveillance data. This insight led to the creation of VaultSight—a dedicated platform for the ingest, storage, analysis, and management of high-volume video surveillance data.

Ethics & Responsible AI
Our Ethical Framework
At VaultSight, we recognize the significant ethical responsibilities that come with developing advanced surveillance technologies. Our approach to AI analytics is guided by the following principles:
Privacy by Design
We incorporate privacy protections at every level of our platform, from data collection to storage and analysis. Our systems include features for automatic anonymization, selective redaction, and granular access controls to protect individual privacy.
Data Minimization
We advocate for and enable the collection and retention of only the surveillance data necessary for legitimate security purposes. Our retention engine helps organizations implement appropriate data minimization practices in compliance with regulations.
Human-in-the-Loop
While our AI analytics provide powerful automation capabilities, we design our systems to keep humans at the center of decision-making processes, especially for consequential actions. Our platform provides tools for human verification of AI-generated alerts and insights.
Responsible AI Development
Our AI development practices are designed to create systems that are accurate, fair, and transparent:
Bias Mitigation
We actively work to identify and mitigate potential biases in our AI models, particularly in facial recognition and behavior analysis. This includes diverse training data, regular bias audits, and continuous improvement processes.
Transparency
We provide clear documentation about the capabilities and limitations of our AI systems, helping customers understand how the technology works and make informed decisions about its deployment.
Accountability
Our systems maintain detailed logs of AI processing activities, enabling accountability and auditability. We support independent review of our AI systems and welcome feedback from privacy advocates and ethics experts.
Our Commitments to Customers in Latvia and the EU
Legal Compliance
We maintain strict adherence to Latvian and EU regulations governing data protection, privacy, and evidence handling. Our platform is continuously updated to reflect changes in regulatory requirements, including GDPR and sector-specific regulations.
We provide comprehensive documentation and tools to help our customers maintain their own compliance obligations when using our platform.
Local Support
We maintain a strong presence in Latvia with local technical experts who understand both the technology and the regional security landscape. Our support team provides assistance in multiple languages and is familiar with local regulatory requirements.
We offer 24/7 emergency support for critical issues, ensuring that your surveillance infrastructure remains operational at all times.
Service Level Agreements
We back our platform with robust Service Level Agreements that guarantee uptime, performance, and support responsiveness. Our SLAs are designed to meet the critical nature of security operations, with financial penalties if we fail to meet our commitments.
We provide transparent performance metrics and regular service reviews to ensure we're meeting your operational requirements.
